HAPPY NEW YEARS!!
I hope and trust that everyone had a great new years celebration. I wish everyone the best of wishes for the new year. Here are some MIND-BLOWING stats from Phoenix AZ.
- More than 2,000 DUI arrests were made from Thanksgiving through December 30, 2008.
- 31 DUI arrests were made on New Year's Eve in Glendale alone.
- 1 out of 4 drivers arrested, were stopped for extreme DUI. That means they had a blood alcohol limit exceeding .15, which is nearly double the legal limit.
- Over 24,000 traffic stops were completed by nearly 2,300 officers across the state since Thanksgiving.
- Of the 24,000 stops, roughly 1 in 10 drivers were stopped was arrested for a DUI violation.
- The legal limit is .08, the average Blood Alcohol Content of drivers arrested was: .148.
- 131 underage DUI arrests were made.
- Nearly 300 underage consumption citations were issued.
- Speeding, Driving under the influence of other drugs, and failing to use seat belts and child restraints were some of the other commonly written citations during the task force.
- Alcohol-related crashes claim more than 500 lives a year in Arizona.
- More than 40,000 lives are lost each year across the nation as a result of alcohol-related crashes.
